Day 6: re-survival mode

Saturday is suddenly here.  How?  I’m not sure.  Six days, six gigs.  Akie is practically hoarse, but managing to muster his voice for those crucial three hours each night.  With each passing day the set gels more and more.  we’ve added a few covers (namely some Tears For Fears, Oasis, and Johnny Cash) and we’ve re-organized all the original stutter-funk material to meet the demands of the Baz Bar.

the local, European, and French audiences are pretty wonderful.  Usually very quiet and attentive (of course, we do sort of miss the old Brooklyn background noise and periodic swearing).  All the staff at the Baz Bar are awesome.  They indulge us in our horrible attempts to speak French and we, in turn, try not to butcher the language completely.

well, we *do* try.

at any rate, we’ve got one more gig this week (tonight) and then The Day-Off, when we will be able to recover from hitting the ground running on Monday.  Expect a few posts from us tomorrow.  We may finally be able to dedicate enough bandwidth to upload some video and recordings.

for now: a few more pictures of our first week…

breakfast at the Baz Bar every morning. the time for repasts, rejoinders, and ribaldry...

aaron has taken "Karate" to heart. ...and begins to master the origins of E. Honda's Hundred-Hand-Slap

akie really *does* love it when a plan comes together

About aabaraki

forged from the four corners of brooklyn... The Aa, the Ba, the Ra, and the Ki combine to wreck havoc on your aural impulses... Men want to be them, women want to be with them, and nothing can satiate them... reduction. stutter. funk. reducing the music to its bare essentials, deconstructing each facet, till it is but a dull and throbbing shell of its former self. they are aabaraki.
